Art Commissions

Thank you for your interest in a commission by me. If you would like to commission me to produce a portrait for you then please contact me by email. I require a deposit of 25% of the completed work before I start on any portrait, this is standard procedure when commissioning an original artwork, and helps cover my costs for materials.

Photographs Of  Your Commission

Please ensure that any photos of the pet, architecture or landscape you provide are of a good quality and in high resolution so that all features and detail can be clearly seen. Uncompressed, high resolution digital images are the best for me to work from, and please make sure the photos are clear, taken in natural lighting and with as much detail as possible. Ideally, don’t take or send photos that have parts of the animal or building obscured, cut off or not clearly visible. For pet portraits the pose depicted in the photo will usually be the pose in the final portrait, so this should be how you want the pet to look and reflect his/her character and personality. I can sometimes use a few photos of the pet to create the final portrait if needed, and if the portrait is to be of more than one pet, I can usually use individual photos of each pet.

I also take commissions for ink and wash buildings, so if you live in a old or interesting home, why not have a painting of it on your wall?

NOTE: Please also ensure you have permission to use the photo if it is not your own.

Portrait Approval

When your portrait is finished, I will e-mail a photo or scan of it for you to approve. I naturally want you to be totally happy with the portrait, so at this stage I can make some minor changes if required until you are entirely happy with it. Once any such changes have been made and approved, I will ask for final payment.

Final Payment

Once the portrait has been approved, I will email you an invoice for the balance of payment. Payment is required within 10 days of invoice, and once this has been cleared the portrait will be dispatched. The easiest way to pay is by BACS, please contact me if you cannot pay by this method.

Timescale

Pastel portraits are time consuming, and obviously including more than one pet will take me a little longer. Depending on how many commissions I have in the pipeline, a pastel portrait will usually take me about a week or two to complete, and once payment has been received, I will ship it straight to you. If you have a specific deadline, such as a birthday or special occasion, I will try to fit around this where possible.

Delivery

Your finished portrait will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm®. For delivery outside of the UK please contact me for prices.

Cancellation

If you cancel a portrait after I have emailed confirmation of the commission start date, I will charge the 25% deposit amount, and this will not be refunded. If due to unforeseen circumstances I need to cancel the portrait, the deposit will be refunded to you in full.

Copyright

IMPORTANT - Copyright is retained by myself, I also reserve the right to scan or reproduce the finished artwork for use on social media or advertising. I also retain the right to use the image on other printed products and will assume permission has been granted unless otherwise advised.
